healing

Postby SleazyMelvin » Thu Jul 07, 2016 12:26 am

Hi, haven't played in forever. Game is much different now.

So, I'm running around looking for a swamp to heal in for hours. After reading up a bit, seems I can't heal Deep Cuts or Fell Wound anyway without a bunch of stuff I can't make yet. Any suggestions? Running around with depleted hp..

Should say for reference, years ago when I played I didn't get far, so am still pretty much a noob. My sole experience was getting taken on by a town, then having an enemy of theirs knock me out, steal my key, and proceed to wreck things:)

Also, all the sudden I cannot run in one direction.

Deep cuts and fell slashes can be healed with bandages. A bandage is made out of wool, and wool's not very hard to come by.
If you live near the centre of the map I'll hook you up - if not, clover a mouflon and sheer it, spin the wool into a bandage at a nearby loom and apply it to your wound.

Did that help?

Heh, I can't make a loom or any of that, as of now my options for building things are very limited. Basically I can make a lean to, just made a dream catcher so I can move my hearth fire (that still works that way right?). Other than that though, no real idea where I am, and no access to much of anything.

I can always just make a new char and be more careful around boars I guess, but was hoping to avoid that.

Hey, wb, until you can make a loom or a cauldron I'm afraid you are stuck with your injuries unless you can find a strange root (curio occasionally found by removing tree stumps) or an ancient root, which is one of the new special resources.

As for not being able to go in one direction ... either you have reached the edge of the world or you have run into a claimed bit of land. Activate personal claims to show up and then you can see.

Good luck and try not to get any more injuries! :)

Just seen Tigertutt has beaten me to it, lol, but posting anyway as it's unlikely there is a near-by loom ... lol.

Naw it's definitely a bug of some kind, not edge of world of land that's claimed, my guy just kind of twitches in one direction - west I guess, but won't go there.

I'll dig around stumps and see what I can find, one or two more irate badgers and I'm done for though, lol. DO you just destroy the stump or what?

Thanks guys.

How do you know it's not the edge of the world? You can still see the land as normal you just can't go into it, edge of the world is not marked in anyway, though we have asked devs before to make it noticeable in some way.

If it were me with those injuries I would find clay and make a cauldron, you can then make a stinging poultice with nettles, string and a dried hide which will at least heal the deep cut. All you need is a drying frame and to catch a rabbit for the hide.

And yes, you can still move your hf the same way.

Ah maybe it is the edge then, it looks by the map like the world keeps going, but perhaps that's the problem.

So any clay I can dig up will do? Thanks, this will be my plan I think, it looks like the deep cuts is doing the majority of the damage.

What skills do I mess with to build a cauldron?

Yes, any clay ... but you will also need to buy the pottery skill, it's cheap though. :)

Nearly there, how do you light/get boiling water in a cauldron though?

Put two blocks wood on caldron -> lighting with firebrand -> puts water in cauldron -> wait some 10 minute.
