Palisade questions

So after getting the needed stuff for a palisade for my place I am now ready to build the gate. But I want to know what is the correct direction it should be. Could someone show me the correct way to place a gate? Thank you very much.

As long as you place your cornerposts correctly, you will have the option on the flower menu to build the gate. To make sure you leave space, you can place some stockpiles or build something simple and easily removed in the spaces as a reminder to not extend the wall into that spot. I suggest 3 in a row. First two will be placing for the gate, the third is where the second corner post for the gate will be.
