Mining hole?

Either haven't had enough coffee or I'm blind.
On the wiki it says now one can place a mining hole anywhere.
looked in ''craft'' and ''build'' menu everywhere and can't find any options to build a mine hole and apparently all that's needed is the mining skill.
So what am I missing here

Damn, I played too much Salem, I keep forgetting about that one

Anyways live near a large swamp, have done a lot of prospecting, doesn't seem to be metal veins anywhere but may not be prospecting properly and both of the wiki are pretty much useless about it.
so far all found is coal.

I have not do this prospecting before, so I think I can not advise here. One other thing I can say though is that for build mine hole the hard leather can be use in place of regular leather. I think you want to not have this hard leather in inventory until you have build in all regular leather so it does not using it as a mistake. Good luck.

What q is your extract? Your range depends a lot on it. Finding unoccupied caves and nagging the walls a bit might also work.

No idea what ''nagging the walls'' mean.
But there aren't any caves around here, nearest existing cave i know of is like many maps away.

"nagging the walls" means using your extract while kissing the wall every few paces. Also you may need higher q extract in order to find metals. You could still have some and just missed them because of low q extract.

Yeah my extract is pretty low Q average 12 or 13 Q.
It was given to me in Sevilla when I visited, went there for the first time yesterday, took me forever, I'm as far from Sevilla as one can possibly be, I'm almost completely north and east at upper right corner of map.
t was a fun trip getting there and had a chat with a Russian guy and he gave me a bunch of stuff, including some good metal tools. Don't think I'll be going there any time soon again, it just takes too long.

Mmk with q12 extract it may take a VERY long time to find metal as a matter of fact you could be standing on metal and not know it. I suggest you relocate to some place with a cave. Caves are really good early game sources of metal. slowly tweaking at a cave wall until you get metal is your best option just beware of cave ins.
