Food Satiations..how the heck do they work??

Postby FictionRyu » Sun Jul 24, 2016 10:29 pm

For the life of me I just can not understand this whole new food satiations thing..I liked Legacy..where I didn't need to worry about eating to stay alive...lol...

Anyway, getting serious, like I said, I just can't figure it out. I read the wiki page on Food Satiations, and I read the Grade-A Milk update page, but I'm having troubles figuring these things out..

What I'm troubled in figuring out is...what does this all mean? Pretty much. Is there a way someone can explain this even simpler then it seems? :?

Essentially, someone else can correct me if i'm wrong.

I will give you a definition of satiation.
//
to fill or supply beyond capacity or desire, often arousing weariness
//

From what I read my self and tried to learn, Satiation's are a penalty gotten from eating to many of the same food type. So, the higher the satiation I believe. The lower the % if i'm correct the lower FEP values you gain from that food group.
I.e If a berry is 1Fep in Intelligence, and you are satiated on berries, it could be less.

I could be wrong on it all though, id need other confirmation.

Simple: replace the scary "satiation" word with slightly less scary "effectiveness", and there you have it.

Your Berries effectiveness is 33%, that means that before table, cutlery and your hunger level bonuses apply, the berry would have only 33% of the FEPs that it says it has.

Tea is a beverage and does not give any FEPs by itself, but drinking tea increases other foods' effectiveness (for example, baked goods). Judging that you've dropped your Tea satiation effectiveness to 9%, you've drank a LOT of tea and your Baked Goods satiation effectiveness should be at 120-125%. If you eat a lot of Baked Goods without drinking more tea, their effectiveness drop down, and you'll have to drink tea again (but it's very ineffective for you now so to increase baked goods effectiveness you'll need a lot of tea).

Is that simple enough? =))

Basically all the food and drink types (other than water) have satiations associated with them so if you eat or drink that food it lowers the amount of FEP bonus you'll get next time. It confuses me as well but I presume that for example if your Meat satiation has been lowered to 50% you are only getting half the FEPs you normally would when eating a big bear banger. If your meat satiation is at 110% you are getting 10% more FEPs than you normally would.

When 5 of your satiations reach lower than 50% one of them resets back to normal.

That helps me understand it a little bit better..
Guess it just needed to be worded differently..

The drinks (tea beer milk wine?) are just supposed to raise those other food related satiations back up a bit if they are low or over 100% if they are higher to get an added bonus. I don't know if say the Tea satiation being low means Tea raises your other satiations back up less effectively but I assume that's how it works.

It's 4, and the drinks don't trigger the reset.
It'll just keep getting more confusing from this point on.

If I remember correctly, a food satiation event triggers the reset.

Food satiation event is like when a food lowers one of your satiations food effectiveness rate (% chance of this happening is indicated in the description of each piece of food)

So..it seems that there's a lot of confusion still circling around these satiations..
