Single character or multiple alts?

Postby lekhoa88 » Sun Jul 31, 2016 4:20 am

I've read Sevenless' beginner's guide (very helpful), and he goes over a lot of aspects of the game. Is it possible to have a jack-of-all-trade character who can do everything in the guide? Or is it better/easier to have alts that focus on certain skills & abilities?

If you are playing by yourself, it is very difficult to play with just one character. it is hard to specialize in anything, and if you die, it is a horrible setback to try to recover all your stats.

The majority of players use alts but it is possible to just run one char that does it all, I have been doing so for the last two worlds. Progression is slower due to having to even out your stats to cover everything and ofc as Neo says death would be quite a set back but personally I just prefer to play without alts. You had no choice in legacy due to the nature/industry sliders, now one char can do everything ... just take care of it. :D

Simply having two characters will suffice in most cases. One character for stuff you do inside the walls and another one for stuff you do outside the walls.

For the character you use for stuff outside the base, you increase STR/AGI/CON/PERC, fighting skills (to hunt and self-defend) exploration to forage. Also use this one for mining.

Inside the base -character will do farming and all sorts of crafting, although former character may be better at smithing depending how much STR you get on it.

Use alts, if you wanna play the game without stressing too much.
Better to use specialized characters.
Forager that will progress to a hunter after some time. Or... from a hunter to a warrior, if you wish. 3 of my forager alts have progressed into a warrior stage within 6 months.
Your miner should be a separate character, since you will need the strength as fast as possible to be able to dig level 5. Also, there is a high chance of digging out a troll. Most people cannot react quickly enough to escape it, or have good gear+ua to tank it.
Your crafter should never leave your village.
Farmer/cooker - you'll just feed the character with the harvested carrots and it will get 300 perc easily.

Thanks for the answer, guys!
I guess I'll spin out 1-2 alts if I want to focus on mining & fighting later on.
