Does land elevation around a wall matter?

Tried to shoot a boar through my pali (cause you could in legacy) and found I couldn't. Got me wondering. If I had a high enough spot inside my pali could I shoot over it? Could someone shoot me by making a pillar of dirt near my wall and shooting me from it? Or if my pali was on the bottom elevation if it just magically extended a barrier to the heavens and gave me outright protection barring it isn't destroyed.

Nope, can't shoot through palisade no matter what.
