Does Twitch hunting still work? Signpost became a pain since mobs move so much.

If what you're refering to as "Twitch" hunting as boat hunting? Yes, very effective, unless you can ohko animals than just carrying a wagon around to load the bodies in is better.

He refers to that glitch in Legacy, making boat-hunting really easy. When animal tried to reach player in a boat (attempt happened every few seconds), it "twitched" and processed the inability to move to specified direction for 0.5 seconds. If you shot precisely after a "twitch", the animal wouldn't flee regardless of damage done. That was the "smart" way to hunt, without littering the area with construction signs. Sadly, it doesn't work like that anymore.

If you can't one-hit animal with bow, aggro it from boat and use disposable alt to block the animal fleeing with branch piles or liftables like logs.

No. If you aggro from boat, use boats to block. Piles and such make no sense in the water...

When you get a bit more advanced you can lure them to lakes with a lot of shallow water and stay in deep water and get ip and defences up and either punch down their defences and quickly retreat to deep water or wait till they defence wears off and then attack and when they start running away go and chase them with boat    you can do that on normal river with boars coz they r slower than players running

Animals only break stuff if they are chasing you. If you manage to trap them before they flee you automatically win. The easiest way to do this by yourself is build a trap in a cliff/corner, lure them into it, de-aggro, fix/close the trap and then aggro them from the corner again. This is best done next to a shore so you can use a boat to lure them.

If you've got an alt or a friend it's best to lure them into a shallow corner in the water then block their escape using a 2nd boat. You can do this alone the same way as above, but it's riskier because you usually have to put the boat up right next to the animal. Risk getting attacked, drowning, etc.. No friend standing by to save you via boat.

Another thing that helps is know exactly how much damage you can do and mixing weapons/attacks accordingly. If you don't feel like trapping and one arrow sends them fleeing, try using weaker arrows or a spear so they don't flee, then delivering the final blow to finish the job.

There's a lot more to it than that. Mix and match these strategies. Discover new ones. It's actually a lot deeper system than it looks.

Oh and if you've got a horse it's very easy to kill anything, although the recent patches may have ruined that. What you would do is just aggro the animal from far, have them run straight towards you while aiming, shoot and run away again. Repeat. Since they would always chase you in a straight line it was hard to miss even if they were moving.
