village idol destroyed, wont let me rebuild it, help???

Hello,

I am having an issue with making a village idol. me and a friend have lived nearby on personal claims. the village claim we live near has become abandoned and we are trying to take it over, we are able to get in, take things out, etc. i destroyed the village idol. but now when i try to remake it, it gives me the error "this land is already ruled", there are banners set up around the village, along with livestock and other things. i'm just trying to figure out why i cannot rebuild a village idol. is there something i'm missing? the people who lived here are no longer active. they quit and nearly all their livestock has died, we came in and saved what we could and are now trying to take it over. oh and i attempted to build a personal claim and it allows that but not the village claim to be built. please help!

You need to destroy the banners too, you can't reclaim any of their old claim it must all be gone (or at least gone to the point the initial idol claim won't cover any of the old claim but you're better off getting rid of the claim entirely).

hmm by the way, what's the range on the banners? i find about 2 or 3 that are pretty far away. wondering if they're all within range or not or if there's one in one of the houses nearby or something. just to get the village idol started and finish destroying the rest.

You should be able to see the area they cover (61x61 claim around banner), there won't be any in a house or something like that. When you place a village idol it creates a 101x101 area of village claim, you only need to destroy the banners creating a claim in that 101x101 area around where you want to place the idol. The other banners don't matter and if you find some that are far away and unconnected it just means the banners in between were destroyed.
