Can't seem to light steel crucible???

Postby Shyruban » Tue Aug 16, 2016 7:23 pm

Hi
I finally discovered wrought iron and the steel, built a steel crucible, i put 2 bars of wrought iron and 2 black charcoal in it.
I just can't seem to light it up, i tried from all 3 available sides of it, no action happening when right clicking crucible with a firebrand.
Help please.

Update : Silly me, I figured it out, the 2 coal in the furnace are for the steel alloy, for some reason I kept thinking they were meant to light the crucible :).
And since i had not added actual fuel, naturally it wouldn't light up, I'll leave my post here anyways, just in case someone else has a momentary brain fart syndrome :)

It's a common mistake the first time running a batch of steel. Glad you found your answer yourself. We're here to help if you need it.

Haha I thought it took coal to make it, as well as coal to fuel it..

Turns out only 2 pieces of coal per crucible and blocks of wood (or branches) are the easiest fuel (in my opinion)

Yeah :) But the Q of the outcome steel is affected by the Q of fuel, so unless you grow some pretty good trees, branches will be far better than blocks.
Actually I'm looking for a hiigher Q axe, because with that I'll be able to get much better Q branches than any coal i get from my mine right now.
