Ore Doesn't Drop

I've been mining with my stone axe and I've noticed that every 2-3 times, a tile drops a piece of ore instead of every time. Is this the mechanic just for stone axe mining, or does mining only intermittently drop ore instead of every single time?

This is correct.

When you acquire a pickaxe and enough strength, you'll be able to mine a full hourglass multiple times per second.

each tile has layers, some drop ore some do not, it is not a function of the stone axe, its just more noticeable with one.

Alright. Just wanted to make sure. Still getting used to Hafen, and I found a iron vein in a cave and mined some. Need to get my strength up and get a pickaxe. Thanks for the info guys!
