How Do You Stay Motivated?

Postby Daktoria » Fri Aug 19, 2016 3:27 pm

I know it's kind of a weird topic, but yea.

I planted my farm, got my loom, cauldron, kiln, ropewalk, herbalist table, winepress, two houses, a bunch of full cupboards, got silkworms going...

...and I don't want to do anything anymore. My abilities and attributes float around the 20-30 range, but I'm just not happy going any further.

I used to play a nomad, but now, all I see are ruins everywhere. I actually found where "The Shire" is that was recruiting a little while ago.

Just feeling really "meh" about going any further. I had the game up in the background just to look at what I built, but I couldn't be bothered to do more than 2 quests or replant my farm after harvesting it.

Hard to sympathize when you give up at 10% of what the cap was before it got removed lol

If you aren't enjoying yourself early game when you still clearly have so much to do then you have a couple of choices: Find someone else to play with or don't play at all because it kind of seems like you don't really enjoy the game even during the point it's supposed to be most fun (early to mid game). Or you just need someone to do things with because playing on your own can be boring.

Yeah the world is fairly empty right now but that isn't always a bad thing and as far as I know there are still a couple of villages recruiting most players.

Yea, I used to play with others before. That's why I would be a nomad that wanders around. The goal was to find people and cooperate with them...

...but I haven't really found anyone. There's some people to my north across a lake who log in time to time, but they just play to replenish curiosities. I found some noobs nearby too, but I'm not convinced they're long-term players since they're not very organized. They have a leader who builds anything and everything, but then she burns out and doesn't log in for a long time.

As for joining a village... there's no compass or coordinate system, so finding people in the woods is a random walk. :-\

You could always try locating yourself on the World Map. Most villages already know where they are located or if you were to take a screenshot of your general area, find some nearby villages and/or other obvious marks to help someone else try and locate your position for you that would work too.

How to join village.
Go to dwarves and theives.
Apply for village.
Get accepted, pack up everything, and then group the leader.
Go to the leaders location.
Get oathed in to village.
You're in a village :D
Being in a village is a lot more fun than just living by yourself, so I suggest you do this

Yea, I could do that to help figure out who's close.

I set goals, like the quests they set some sort of goal. I always did that, then when something shocking happens I run with it.... then go back. It means for a mroe motavated game for me.

After re-visiting Mabinogi, I've generally hit the same issue, raising stats feels like a waste of LP and an endless hamsterwheel at this point, in mabinogi I (despite leveling a silly skill), get a reduction in how long it takes to shear a sheep. 0.5s per every 4~ ranks might not seem much, but it's still something that you feel is a big reduction and a big reward over time.

Meanwhile in H&H I just get +1 to my bat butt carve quality for every point in survival I put.
