Do Trellis crops increase in quality?

If not, how to make them better?

Destroy the crop, NOT the trellis and replant.

Trellis quality has no effect on the crop. As far as I know, the only way (without trying that destroy crop glitch/bug) to get higher quality is to just keep grinding at it.

It's not a glitch, and is quite intentional. It's just a pain to figure out due to the pointer design and the size of the base you have to click on. Might help if you zoom the camera in.
