Recover items from fallen alt? Lucky me.

Postby InvaderDoom » Sun Sep 11, 2016 8:00 am

They have about a 0.002% chance of spawning from each mining grid

Let me just start with that. However I was mining in level 2 mine, troll popped out of nowhere, my main managed to get away, but I was unable to get my alt out in time and he got killed. I'm just trying to recover the items off of him, but the troll is literally right by my mine hole. How would I go about getting my items back off my character? Does the troll despawn? Is there a time limit to recover items?

Thanks guys.

Get a horse, the meta Set (Steal Thunder, Sting, Shield Up, Zig-Zag/Parry, Take Aim) and kill it. A suit of Bronze, Thanes, and a D-Helm should be enough, although Steel Plate should be easy enough for you I suppose.

You could make another alt to distract the troll maybe? Make the troll move away from the entrance, or, surround it with alts and quickly nip past ... I'm not sure on the troll despawning, I've been told they don't, but the items will despawn, time varies I've found.

Edit; Granger answered the troll bit while I was typing. :)

Horses are scared by trolls, as soon as you agro a troll, the horse will start "running away" to different direction. If it's -2 troll then you could really trying killing him just by parry, parry, then parry, then if you don't fall asleep another parry. If not pretty much what Amanda said, get another char and try to lure troll somewhere, I'm pretty sure on speed3 u have same speed as troll. Troll want despawn, at least for a week or something, I mean noone waited longer. Also another solution is to ask someone to kill the troll. Because troll skulls are rare trading item, probably a lot of people are willing to "help" when it comes to trolls. Ofc. it might be dangerous, someone can kill troll and you in addition.

Nice. Well I guess since it's a new mine hole, and I haven't mined but maybe 20 blocks. So it's a super small enclosed space, looks like that was an amazing waste of 20 wax :( :( :( :(

Well a lot of people are mining tons of blocks to find a troll and you got it after 20. So probably quite a lot of players could disagree that you were unlucky.

do not use horse.
If troll can't pathfind to you, it will throw lots of stones at you that will kill you fast.
And pathfinding for animals (includes trolls) is not the best..

One can say that dying to boulder tosses on horse is the Developers' unintentional allegory to the foot soldier vs Cavalry dispute, specifically on the facet of control. On his ground the man at arms has full kinesthetic control and can at least directly determine where his fate will lead him. On the other hand seated on a jittery beast will give varying degrees of 'rein' over the now combined effort to be mobile. Of course the stone thrown can be a curve ball to this allegory and is indifferent to the target shifting in his saddle but still.
