You would need Vandalization, and to leave a vandal scent just to break a trail isn't worth it.

Vandalism is needed to destroy roads with endpoints that are claimed. This was introduced after people complained they were useless because to easy to destroy. IIRC

I understand the need for the change but it is incredibly annoying when you log on one day to roads surrounding your base and/or built too close. You could try contacting the builder Viz, if you can locate them and ask if they could be detoured somewhat. After an initial disagreement I took this approach when it happened to me and the situation was resolved to suit both parties. :)

Or if you know the owner, make a party with him (maybe he will just accept the party :P) and start bashing the milestone :P

I don't know if it's the case here but there's a road building method that some players employ where they will build a road on their claim and extend it somewhere, then connect it in to another road that is not claimed (Connect as in, there are two roads connected in to a single milestone trail, so for example you right click one connection stone and you see follow x road, follow y road, extend or connect) in order to require vandalism for the destruction of the road that is not even claimed at any end point. This in my opinion is an abuse of the road mechanics and an incredibly annoying one at that, if neither end point to a road is claimed it should not require vandalism to destroy but because of the way connecting these roads works, it does require it.
