That quest looks pretty weird to me and I am afraid to do it since it could ask me to go very very far away...is it worth?

I don't really know. It required quite a lot of walking in some dangerouse hunting spots and the magic sword I got from it wasn't that great, but if you lack good enchanted weapon you should try at least.

A magic sword...well at the moment I only have basic tools, maybe a magic sword could let me oneshot foxes?

There are no magic swords. Quests ask you to do all sorts of strange things and are generated randomly. You'll need to share what it wants you to do specifically if you want any advice on the subject. =)

Quest rewards are also random. Sometimes the exp you get from them can be a huge boon though.

I've more or less stopped doing them now but I really enjoyed the quests for awhile regardless of the rewards, it gets you out and exploring the map and I got to see lots of villages, met some lovely players and had a few great finds in abandoned places!

I found they start off in your vicinity and gradually get further away the more you complete, I noted the co-ords of each quest giver once they started to spread out further as I had many on the go at once and you need to keep going back and forth, it helped to be able to go straight there. :)

I found it easier to open up as many quests as possible as the actions required are repeated often and once completed will be automatically completed on all quests asking for the same action.

I'd say do some, it's fun exploring even if the quests become repetitive and sometimes the bonuses are awesome! :D

I have the quest to wave at Ington, it's a rock, I right click on him but I can only chip stone

Edit: I did solve it by using the emote and it did work, usually I can just right click and say hi...but anyway

Yeah, if it says 'greet' then it's just the right click, often you will be asked to wave, laugh or rage at the target then it's the emotes.

It appears to me that when you complete a quest it likes to try and grab one nearby that has already been created by another person. For example if I "commune with nature" and get a quest somewhere in my vicinity, the next time someone "communes with nature" they may end up getting that same quest giver if they are close enough rather than it creating a new one instead. To me, this is the opposite of how it should work because as you said it just creates a scenario where you're gradually getting further and further away from your village/familiar area.

Is this good for exploration? Of course it is but what it's not good for is the actual questing itself because at some point your quests end up so far away that you might as well drop them all and let a new one appear closer to you or try communing with nature again.

An off topic bit of advice:

If you want help, its generally better to post in the "Help" section. We're pretty strict on the type of jokes and derails allowed there.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Yes you are exactly right and that is exactly why I stopped doing them, they had gotten so far away it was taking up way too much of my time. I didn't bother trying to open up any closer to home because I can't stand the fact I have ones on there uncompleted now, (I don't like leaving anything unfinished) I know if I do go for them it is just going to open up ones even further away ... so I've just turned them off and pretend there are no quests. :)
