Well quality

Postby InvaderDoom » Wed Sep 28, 2016 3:17 am

Ok so, I'm sure this has been clarified, but It's super hard to use the search function for this, because it involves the word "Well" so here goes:

Does the amount of material for a well help to determine quality at all? Like if I use the dowsing rod, find the highest point of a water table, then plop down a well, what in the world is the meaning behind the amount of materials? I understand that the amount is based on the height of the water table, but if I plop down a well and it requires 5 ropes, then plop down a well and it requires something like 47, does that mean potentially better water?

Means that the water table in that area is deeper, and thus you have to get more rope for your bucket to make it all the way down there.

Nope, it only means it's deeper not better...the quality depends on nodes as everything else.
Make friends with the other crabs or try to escape the bucket.

Ahh ok, me and my buddy were thinking that. But wasn't sure if deeper meant better water or something.

With one of the more recent updates the Hearth Magic Dig Deeper spell makes the water quality better. So that kind of confused me. Thought that maybe Deeper meant better.

There's a spot by me that the well takes like 250 ropes or something so I was just making sure I didn't have a goldmine right by me :p

I might at some point, but I know there are a couple other wells in about a 50 tile radius near me that are q10, how big are nodes usually?

I've not played enough this world to really say if it's changed, but nodes tend to be fairly good sized. It is a bit random, but you're not going to go up much if there are two q10 wells only 50 tiles apart. You might hit 20 or 30 in the middle, but odds are it's still around q10. When searching for nodes, looking once per mini-map has been considered best. It's a large enough radius your going to hit a part of the node and can triangulate its approximate center from there.
