How to Fight animals

This isn't a thread about how to fight animals per se, but what I would instead like to know is what STR/AGI/CON + MC/MM/UA to effectively hunt the various animals of haven

currently, I know combating ants with 15UA/20STR/20AGI is easy enough, but i'm hesitant to take on a fox or a bat yet.

any useful information on what stats you need to effectively fight with haven animals would be useful

how did you do that? I tried to shoot it and despite wiki says "Bat can be killed in one shot from Hunter's Bow." I tried like 5 times, it aggroed because got some damage and I fought it after but it flew away. So after it stopped I repeated everything from the beginning and still couldn't kill the bat. If I attacked without shooting it quickly flies away and I cant even punch it. It was easier in Legacy, you could punch to initiate the fight so at least it gets some damage.
