metal clay Cauldron wheres the difference?

Postby Antaraner » Thu Oct 06, 2016 1:44 pm

My question is what are the differences of metal and clay cauldrons in regard of quality. I know that in legacy metal ones didnt need time to heat. I expect that didnt change.
I want to make a compost bin and found/lootet 2 different king of cauldrons in abandoned settlements. A Metal one with avg 25 and a clay with avg 35 which one is better? I already sortet out my bones and gathered water, the only question remains in which one i should make the glue.

Clay Cauldron halves the quality of water in it and Metal Cauldron doesn't need time to heat up, so I would use the metal one if you have high quality water because it's added to the cauldron quality for the formula.
So...
Clay Cauldron would have (35+water/2)/2
Metal Cauldron would have (25+water)/2
This means that if you are using Q10 water the result in the clay cauldron would be (35+5)/2=20 while in metal cauldron would be (25+10)/2=17.5 making it the clay cauldron the better option for the purpose of quality, but if the water is Q20 the results would be Q22.5 on both the cauldrons, but it will be better in the metal cauldron if using water with quality higher than 20

Not sure where you got those numbers at. You sure that's how they work? I've not seen it posted elsewhere and nobody has posted it to the wiki yet.

He said the Clay Cauldron is Q35 and the Metal Cauldron is Q25 (I suppose he did inspect them to see the quality).
Then, the wiki says the formula for the quality of Clay Cauldron and Metal Cauldron results, [(Cauldron+Water)/2+Materials]/2 is the normal formula, add this to the Water/2 if using clay cauldron.
So, for the numbers:
25 and 35 are the quality of the cauldron he said, 10 and 20 for the water quality are just an example, where water is the variable "X".

The wiki says that these are the legacy infos, but I don't know why they shoud have changed it.

Yeah... I sometimes fail at reading.

I know the formulas have changed from legacy. I haven't done any research into it myself (haven't progressed enough to bother with a metal cauldron), and haven't seen anything posted. I just know that what I was getting out of a cauldron was different than what I expected from playing legacy. A few things got changed "just because" from legacy, a lot got left alone. /shrug

As far as the glue, unless it is needed for quality crafting, such as curios, it doesn't really matter. Most things that take bone glue have no quality from what I'm recalling off the top of my head.
