Am I doing combat right?

I have 18 UA 14 AGI 13 STR and still can't kill ants without losing half my health.

I am spamming punch until I lose around half my green and blue defense then spamming quick dodge and sidestep a few times then continuing to punch.

What am I doing wrong?

Forget ants and bats
Get on a boat
Aggro animal and block it off from behind
Punch and run until it dies

u dont really need any stats for hunting if u know some cheap tricks
