Is living as a nomad possible?

Postby curzman » Sun Oct 09, 2016 11:40 pm

Hi, used to play legacy a little, but pretty much a noob again since i forgot most things.
Im wondering if it's possible to live as a nomad? I know you can build wagons but how easy is it to travel with them? and keep the oxen pulling them alive/ crossing rivers. and is it possible to keep the wagon repaired on the road?
Also is it possible to level up your character while traveling around and not staying in one place? and is it possible to improve your equipment?
What Kind of trade would you be able to pursue if any?

Also how safe would it be to be a nomad?

because in some ways it could be safer than staying in one place since your harder to find, yet more vulnerable if you are found. most of the videos on youtube are of people running around killing enemy villages so my thinking was that being unseen would be kind of safer?

with 20 liftable objects in a wagon can you fit in equipment to let you cook good food and replace your equipment with the things you need?

could be a fun experiment with a decent alt... i'd want to study a lot to build temporary claims and farm for a couple days... you'll probably find some abandoned bases in the way with some loot too... need raft, food through, leather, cauldron, beeskep, plow, large chests, can't forget anything...

as a main its too dangerous, as an alt i'd give it a try...

Only if you already have a bunch of claims all over the map and move between them. Otherwise your things will just be taken once you log off.

thinking to the security issue, you gave me an idea: is totally possible, now, to be a nomad... if you use a knarr!

Thats nice and all but you are then stuck to the river system while your oxcart can move all over the map.
Honestly ox cart living would be great if it had a lock on it too.

you can also claim it every time before going offline and declaim next day. which means you would need to have some amount of LP + all the staff needed for the pclaim. :?

but don't claims have like an 8 hour period before they activate?

yep, and also no shield...won't work just claiming and declaiming...maybe a leanto could give a small claimed space around it instead of just having 2 secured containers...

would declaim prevent the extra 4000LP for a new claim ?

anyway, you need to farm a couple days, make leather, so there's time for the claim fill up...

you could spend the week on a spot, then move on the weekends :)
