The formula is in the gilding announcement post. viewtopic.php?f=39&t=49009&p=641931&hilit=gild%2A#p641931

I can't really make it any simpler than jorb has there.

I see next things:
- Item has a gilding stat type
- Gilds has a stat type
- When they match its bigger % to gild
- My stats affects % of gild
All these was known

are multiplied with eachother to create the actual chance span

But i cant understand here, what i must multiply for my stat or whatever?

Still not see what mean % to % and how can i calculate how many survival i need to gild survival item with survival gild with 10% chance? And what is better 50% to 100% or 20% to 100%?

Ok, a quick example:

Taproot Lacing--45% to 95%, Survival
Nettle Pants--5% to 25%, Survival

After doing the math, you have a 0.45 * 0.05 = 0.0225 to 0.95 * 0.25 = 0.2375 chance. Since the attributes are the same, the exact chance is based on your stat in that attribute. If you have a 1 in it, then you only have the 2.25% chance (will show as 2%). If you have 90, it'll be somewhere closer to 10-15%. I'm not sure what skill level is needed to get the maximum percentage chance for the second gild slot. All I can tell you is that the higher the skill, the better better chance you get.

If you changed the nettle pants to another type of clothing that didn't have the survival attribute, you'd always have the lowest possible chance no matter your skills.

What is best is if you have two parts that are both something like 90 to 100. However, I don't think anything lines up like that. You're best bet is to match attributes whenever possible. Have the character with the best score in that skill or attribute do the gilding.
