Dual Wielding (also with tools)

Postby kemil88 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 2:51 pm

What's the difference? What weapon/tool will I use when performing an action? For example, what weapon will do damage fighting and what axe will be used to chop a tree/skin an animal?

If both equipped items are applicable for an action, then it is not well-defined which is used. You can think of it as random (though it isn't actually actively randomized).

What about summing the effect quality if they are both applicable for an action?

Using two axes to chop wood doesn't make the wood better.

No, it doesn't, and shouldn't. using two hammers at once doesn't drive nails faster, either, unless you've trained quite some time into doing this trick, and then a practiced carpenter can still drive a nail with one hammer faster (can usually do it in a couple of blows).

well if you use the two axes at the same time you will do it faster, they are hatchet, so they are VERY easy to use

Regardless of whether you can chop trees faster IRL with two axes (I am quite doubtful, though), I don't think it would make for a particularly fun game mechanic since all it'd mean is that you'd have to walk around with two axes constantly. At that point, we could just as well reduce the equipment screen to one hand slot instead. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to certain combat mechanics requiring and/or being modified by dual-wielding weapons, but I can't think of any obviously desirable such effects.

about dual weilding weapons; sword and dagger? sword and buckler (smaller more offensive shield) just as some opptions to shield/b12 meta. when weilding defence manouver like shield could be used OR a special offensive boosting manuver (+10% atk weight or some shit). So dual weilding means u could switch between beeing a bit more offensive and a bit more defensive just like in IRL? :D

I've always thought that dual wielding weapons should be a lore
