A few questions!

Postby TheMiles » Wed Oct 19, 2016 4:41 am

Hi there! I'm pretty new to this game (Started about 2 weeks ago), but thanks to the starter guide, the wiki and the forums, I was able to settle down on a cute, abandoned farm for now. Still, I have a few questions about some things, that I couldn't figure out for myself just yet.

1. I found chickens and got them cooped just as they should be. Do animals have a lifespan though? Can they eventually die of old age? (all domesticated animals) Can I also keep fertilized eggs in a cupboard in case of massive chicken death? Or will they rot/die?

2. Can you secure a boat? I don't mind people using my boat (I find it again, most of the times) but I was wondering.

3. I saw things about new worlds (world 9) on the forum. What is that all about?

I'd love if I could get some answers. I am sure, that more questions will pop up eventually, but for now, that's all I got. (I hope this was the right place to ask too!)

If you keep them fed and watered they won't die. If you put a fertilized egg in a cupboard the timer on it will disappear in a few hours and the egg will no longer be fertile.

Pick it up, hearth home, set it down on your claim.

The game has been wiped and restarted on a new map a few times in the past.

I'm going to comment farther on world resets, as it is a topic of consternation among forum users.

In general, resets occur when the devs want them. In some instances, there is no rhyme or reason, but usually there is something they want to add that isn't easily shoehorned in.

In other instances in the past, there has been serious hardware failure. The last I recall being posted about was in w6 which was fixed and the rest of the server was maintained for another year and a half, w5 and w3 both ended on critical failures.

There is one instance where players found a way to cheat the system so badly that it forced a new system that was already in development into place early (world 4).

And one thought I forgot: We will have resets again (probably several) in the future. The game is still flagged as "alpha" development which means anything and everything can change at any time.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Thanks so much for adding that extra info! Thank goodness I play a lot of alpha games that reset things as well, so I am more than used to it. H&H so far has just been too enjoyable as to not play it and I don't think a wipe would stop me from playing it either.
