If i understand this correctly, now i have to go for grapes first, to get vinegar, to craft exquisite rot, to tan hides, to craft leather, to build a palisade. Or am i missing something here?

pretty sure you can still use bark to make tanning fluid.

yep 4 pieces of bark right clicked into a tanning tub, exquisite rot is just a later game tanning material with a higher quality potential
