Will plants in plant pots grow in caves?

Postby Ophaq » Fri Nov 04, 2016 12:48 am

I know I can plant them in cave as I made several plant pots and planted a bunch of chantrelle mushrooms in them. But will they actually grow? They're mushrooms so I thought they would but I'd just like to confirm. And if they can, can other plants other than mushrooms grow as well? Or maybe anything can but it grows at a much slower rate?

Yes, all the potted plants grow underground, the chantrelles take quite awhile though in comparison, I haven't noted exact growing times of any of the plants, but know that they take the longest. :)

Oh ok that's neat. The chantrelles do indeed take the longest for some reason. They are very common so you would think they don't. But oh well, I decided to fill the empty cave where I dump my extra smelters and other extra low quality crap with lots of q50 plant pots for chantrelles. Fill them up with q20 soil and q29 water to make pretty decent mushroom and onion breads with q100+ barley in it as well. Not a bad idea and saves lots of time foraging lol.

On another note, I found out you could grow chives but I don't really see any use for them other than eating. Is there a recipe for chives that I missed?

Oh yeah, the trout one. Forgot about that. Sadly there's no salad or anything else that uses chives, though. Maybe there will be more uses for it in the future as it seems pretty useless to me at the moment. I really don't feel like going fishing for trout just to use up my chives. XD

You can grow stalagooms in pots? I didn't think of trying that but if you can, then I'm definitely gonna have to fill up 20 or so pots of those and start growing them.
