Wild Boars and Tamed Cows

Postby Aceb » Mon Nov 14, 2016 1:35 am

So hello guys, I have 2 questions.

1st: If I find a nice wild boar, that will finally decide to eat clover from my hand and get gently leashed... then after being leashed to hitch post... Does it is posssible for it to attack me or any other hearthlings passingby? Or is it safe and I just should wait for it to enter combat stance and knock it teeth out with my falcon punch?

2nd: I've tamed 2 bulls, both seems to be females. I have them for 2-3 days and none of it eat anything at all. Should I be worried? By inspecting them, I see red bars dropping a lil'bit.

1: Once tethered they have only so much room to move from. I do not think leashed boars agro though I could be wrong.

2: Does your food trough have food in it? Are the animals free to move around it and approach it without obstructions? Is the pen fully in the radius of the food trough? Best way is to build a pen that has nothing in it but the animals and the food trough and is small enough to be fully inside the radius of the trough, which is considerable.

The path finding on animals to feed used to be a bit odd and many said it proved how dumb the animals can be. IDK if they ever fixed it so I always assume they will starve is even slightly distracted.

1: Well, it's the key. I am a beginnig hermit, who already made peace with few people and it would be bad if leashed boars aggroed'em at some point while passingby.

2: Yes. I build them a square 10x10 and their food trough was being used like a 2-3 section "wall" (I tried to make two different pens using same trough, by putting it between as a wall section), but I moved it into middle of cow's square. Still nothing changed, satiation I guess it is? Is still dropping.

Animals can't agro through walls, so you don't need to worry about it attacking other players.

There are some threads in the bugs section about animals not eating. I haven't seen one with a solution, though. It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong.

Alright, 5 mins ago those cows decided to eat finally, so it's fixed. (Maybe dropping trough inside pen instead of using it as a part of the wall fixed it, not sure).

We will see with boar for next 3-4 days. I made up a special section for just that one boar only.

I'm pretty sure the trough doesn't have to be inside the pen for the animals to feed.
My animals are separated from the trough by wooden fences, each type in their own area, and they all share the trough food over their fences.
I think as long as they're in the radius of it, it just works like magic
