When the server comes up, you should be out of combat unless you happen to log in to a bear standing next to you (or some such).
However, during the moment of the crash, sometimes the processes don't end immediately. There is a chance you should have taken a couple of hits without being able to react to them. Unless the combat was going really badly, there's no reason you should get KO'd with the current combat, let alone killed.
If you do happen to die like this, sorry, no character restores. At least that's the general policy. It's a two man dev team producing "alpha grade" software. Crashes, errors, and data loss can be occasionally expected. It also takes a good bit of time to research such things. It doesn't hurt to ask, but just go into with that understanding. Best if you can fully explain the situation if you do get to this point.
Good news is if you can get your body, skull, and have a realm to give the body a state funeral, you get a very large portion of LP and attributes back. Almost like a death penalty instead of permadeath.
