Milestones and teleporting

Postby GlitterX » Wed Nov 30, 2016 9:46 pm

Hey gang, got a question concerning milestones - Obviously enough - that I didn't see an answer to after searching about a bit.

Going off one of the wikis, it reads as though you can teleport from milestone to milestone.. but I'm not seeing an option for that. I'm guessing you have to connect them first via the mini-milestones? If so, how would one go about connecting a milestone inside a cave to one that's outside? Or, crossing a river or two? I guess you could turn swimming on to get across a river but last I was aware swimming was still a death-trap.

Anyone mind giving a quick how-to on the teleport side of the milestone, if that's something they even still do?

You can only being the initial travel from the first stone. The big pointy one. If you become waylaid, you can then use the smaller stones to continue down the road.
You cannot take them through caves/mineholes. But if a river is thin enough you can continue across it just fine. I think you can just boat across and then extend it from the other side. I haven't done it in a while, so I don't remember if you have to begin the extension before crossing or not.
They only "teleport" in the sense they take you down the chain of milestones. Charter stones however can be used to teleport to other stones you've visited.

They do, you can cross rivers but you can't cross gates or portals (minehole, cave).

Create an initial milestone, select create path, place the mini stone/sign so that the path between the last waypoint (the arrow from the build ghost) to the new one is clear. go back to initial milestone/sign and you can either follow or travel the path,, latter is teleport (left click travels, right click aborts the eye on the destination).

Ctrl+click to move when placing a new stone, to cross rivers you should be in boat when selecting extend as you need line of sight to the stone you extend from.

Swimming is a mere shadow of its former self. RIP.

Oh, dang, so charter stones are instant teleports, but milestones are 'walk along the path' sorts of things? Not instant teleports? Hm, dang. I may have to experiment with these things and see if I can't get them to do what I want to do.

And huh, swimming isn't as dangerous as it used to be? That's good to know. :O Thanks for the responses folks, I haven't played in a while and despite having played and dinked around since .. world 3? there's a fair amount of stuff I never tinkered with.

They can do both. If they are set up so that you can "walk-follow" them from one end to the other, they also allow you to teleport that same route.

Yea, instead of straight up dying when you're out of stamina, you just start losing health by 10 points (I tested a fresh character, not sure if that increases or decreases, I doubt so, but, I could be wrong) and THEN you die when you're out of health. Much safer now. Sorta. Lol.

Asphyxiation damage is scaled, it's 10% of your HHP on every hit you take.
