Are all of my sources wrong?

So I started playing Ring of Brodgar recently, and started to do pretty well for myself, I got to palisade level and was (mostly) content with the game as a whole not as buggy, broken, and poorly designed as i expected from an eternal alpha. I had begun leather production finding a massive pile of pre-dried animal hides to use as leather, I set my schedule around the 8 hour tanning time and woke up during the night for my 2 hour "errand" run only to find my leather was not even 1/3 the way done, i was sort of peeved and figured it was server issues or some bug and went to sleep, only to wake up to 3/4 done leather, I scoured the internet cuz i had heard that the drying and tanning had always been 8 hours and sure enough, all sources said 8 hours. I ran 1 more test when the tub was finally done, putting the hide in at exactly 9:06 pm, and left it for the day. sure enough at roughly 9:06 pm the leather finished right in front of me. TWENTY FOUR HOURS? The internet not once said 24 hours for leather, no extra variables, no skills that scale speed no NOTHING. i have done 2 batches of leather and the 3rd is currently at around 75% and still seems to be following the 24 hour mark. WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?

It's around 24 hours, yeah.
Just get more tubes to tan more leather faster.

Thats the old haven. In hafen it actually takes 30 whole hours.
