Tracking scents - hearth direction changes over time (?)

Hi,

I have picked murder scent with 29 ticks. The directions of the perpetrator was triangulating to the same area with a sharp angle (pretty precise I assume). BUT (!) hearth direction was changing all the time.

Why hearth direction can float/change ? I assume it is stationary object over 10-20 min and should not change 3-4 time over large distances on map.

They could be changing their Hearth often, to confuse anybody tracking the scent.
