How I can find my friend?

I know, there was a lot of threads about this question but they are old so I ask now after a lot of updates.

I can join to my friend by something like teleport? I read about hearth secret but I can't use it in spawning room.
I add then my friend by secret heart after creating character and try to follow the blue arrow - after 1,5h I still can't find him I don't see anything on map.
Somebody can help me in that case?
