Combat System

Postby Lord_Delta » Thu Jan 12, 2017 1:57 pm

So i'm not understanding this new combat system, i watched a few YouTube videos but i think they are outdated now. I have 35 UA but ants are still pretty hard to beat, i still take quite a lot of damage fighting them and i definitely couldn't raid a nest and hold them off. If i attack them separately i can kill about 2 before my health bar is just too low. Is there something else that i am just missing besides just spamming punch, because as of right now that seems like the best way to kill things? Also how are new Moves acquired? And last of all what do the plus and minus signs near a move in the combat menu mean?

Walk away and use restorations when your openings get high. Also try to get some armor ASAP. You'll still take 1 damage wounds, because Jorb hates us :(

If you can get Take Aim and Chop use it when you build up green opening on the ant, you'll kill it faster and so will take less damage.

If you're at that UA I'd recommend finding a fox near water, and fighting it from a boat so you can easily break away, and just learn what's going on.

Simply, you want to raise your opponents opening of the same colour coded category as your main attack. Each time you punch, you're making more of an opening, meaning your attack is blocked less.

So spamming punch is great to open an opening for that colour, but also keep an eye on your own. And use a defensive move (blue background, regardless of category) of the right category, to lower your own openings, to make sure you're taking as little damage as possible. If you use the boat to pull back for a few seconds and spam defensive moves, you should be able to take the fox and even boars without taking damage at all.

Edit: be aware that when they run they will sometimes turn back and continue the fight, so be prepared to run back to your boat, with boars this isn't a huge issue as you can outrun them, but a fox will still hit you.

If you have several "copies" of a move you can put up to five of them into your current "deck" using + and - buttons. Your "deck" is limited by 30 points/"cards". Also I'd recommend reading bumfights update notes where all that was introduced.

I swear I'll get Cleave before I get Take Aim.
