How bad is the sling now?

Postby cyrus9586 » Fri Jan 13, 2017 1:20 am

I have not kept up on all the MM changes over the last year since they gave it a heavy nerf. I was told Slings are all but useless but have heard of devs buffing it since. Bow and bone arrows or sling on a trapped animal. Any thoughts?

Arrows ruin quality. Other than that, I have no opinion one way or the other. The whole PvE combat/hunting system seems to be in transition. I'm not sure this is the final combat system or yet another iteration. (See complaints about it, not as many as last other than for hunting.)

I guess if you're going to exploit mechanics, at least use ways that don't ruin quality.

At this early in the game and still getting my butt kicked by foxes leather is rare enough for me that I don't want to waste 3 I could save for armor. Though I may have to try it if it means I can actually kill things for leather.

Squirrels, rabbits, and hedgehogs make for good sources of early leather you don't get (very) injured for.

Slings are great. Very good DPS after you have some marksmanship (not much, 15 will do for pretty insane damage early on), safe slinging from behind the cover of a boat, they don't ruin quality, just all in all good weapon. Don't expect to PvP with it though.

sling is amazing tbh, just make it, well worth the miserable amount of leather it costs (2 or something IIRC)
