But... Why? They pose no problem as is, and the fact that you have to pay for every single tile means that the cost increases exponentially if you're making a square village, and it's much easier to claim a big area with a village claim.

yes, yes you do.
its cheaper to maintain than a pclaim of the same size.
also you cant just start attacking out of the blue on a vclaim.

Theoretically no limit. Other than amount of LP restricting the growth of pclaim area, other pclaims that you eventually run into will prevent further extension into their direction.

In the Legacy version, when declaiming returned you 100% of the LP you spent on it, some people made enormous "LP bank" claims. Some people thought this wasn't good mechanic since it reserved large areas for nothing and declaim no longer returns LP.

Other than the materials you might need for a village claim, you really are better off using one. Just a hermit can maintain a 500k Authority village with no problem, and can probably push that to a million, million and a half. I had a 2M claim a few worlds ago, was trying to push to 5 because I could. (Making banners is what was slowing me down.)

I think limit is when you run out of lp. But you can study curiosities or make quests or earn lp by other ways to increase this limit.

Claims do have a ratio of 1:5--one side can't be more than 5x longer than the other. If you try, you'll get an error about trying to expand farther. Make the claim wider, and you can expand the length a bit more.
