Animal Decay

Sorry if this is on the forums, but could not find it on the search function.

But how does animal decay work? I got myself a Q92 deer, and do not want to butcher it up, until i have proper skills.
Will it decay on a claim? Can i prevent decay somehow, perhaps store it in the cellar?

Dead animals don't decay (yet). There has been issues with animals getting bugged and not able to be butchered, and time seems to be a factor.

Why bother leave it until later? If you can kill a deer, you can kill another.

Not that I'm aware. I haven't played enough to do so much hunting myself that I felt like leaving a corpse laying was better than using it right away, but I can't say I've read it on the forums, either.
