Best way for taming animals

Postby beardhat » Wed Jan 18, 2017 2:27 am

With this new combat system I can't even get a sheep tamed before it beats my armor to death on each taming attempt

Besides boat exploiting, any other ways of taming?

If you cant tame animal in fair fight, and since you cant cover them in rocks since last update (couse they dont flee that way, dont have much space), you can cover yourself in rocks, the rest is obvious - hit, heal breaches, etc.

Well thats a shame :|

I prefer playing without exploiting, but if thats how its going to have to go.

New combat sucks

i wondered that too, last world i tamed each animal species before the combat changes.

Once you start breeding animals the need to hunt is no more.

Then they made the combat changes, I went out for fun to hunt one day and killed a boar in hand to hand combat but, he destroyed my armor. (No more keeping defenses up to avoid hits)

The armor would have been costly to replace if was not advanced enough. I began to wonder if I had not already tamed all the animals, how would I go about doing it with the new combat system? I guess the only solution is to have several sets of armor stocked up and ready to go...

Nice excuse to suck and exploit, tbh. I manage to tame sheep/horse in low-Q bronze armor. Armor itself takes 0 damage if you don`t suck :)

This.

Old armour/hp penetration system was stupid, especially in pve.

Use a weapon, taming with just punches is slow so you can run out of HP before the animal does.

Yup. People often quote that you should never ever use a weapon during taming, but that's just bullshit. Just know your strength and have an idea how much you can damage safely before you should probably hold off and maybe switch to punches (for horses I do that after 200 damage, for example).
Too old to rock-n-roll, too young to die.

Also, I advise leather armor instead of bronze, agi is good. You'll still take 0 armor damage if you do it right, and if you mess up you'll get KOd before any of your armor takes excessive damage.

The problem there is that even the basic Chop uses Initiative Points, and since getting combat skills is random, you cant use it even if you have a weapon until you get an IP generating move.

Maybe I just got unlucky, but I've been murdering wildlife for weeks now and havent gotten a single Ip skill.

Might as well ask while it's on the topic: Will using a weapon improve your damage even if your ua and strength is way higher than your MC? Is MC much more efficient than ua for that matter? I would only have a stone axe atm anyway, and I'm gonna guess thats not really gonna up your dps a whole lot.
