Chop down a growing bush for blocks

Hey!

Was wondering, if i chop down a bush early, can i still get blocks of wood? I tried on a bush at i think 30% growth, and i did not get any, but perhaps it changes at 50%, 70%, 90% etc. Or do i have to wait until it is grown to 100%?

I think it's random how many blocks you get; I chopped down one bush and got nothing, then chopped the one next to it and got 7 blocks.

Tried with a bush at 65% grown, got 7 blocks, but the Q was lower then the berries, so i guess the Q of blocks is influenced to growth.
