Brickwall VS Palisade

Postby Divicid » Wed Jan 25, 2017 9:15 pm

So i just realised i need to dig up 2.700 clay and make em into bricks, to fully brickwall myself.
And i was thinking, in the old worlds, like 7/8 it was worth it. Is it still worth getting it?

It is much less needed now that you can not bash wall by hand.

Yeah i was thinking something like that, so i suppose it does not offer as much protection as it did many worlds ago? Hmm =/

It takes like 1 more catapult hit to take down than a palisade. It's really just for larpy purposes now.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Jorb has been threatening to differentiate the type of wall in some way. And it take a bit longer to break in general. It is probably not bad to build eventual, but I think it can not be a big priority.

Ohhh well, can just hope he buffs it then, consider the investment in a brickwall is alot bigger then in a Palisade.

2700 bricks is basically a negligible cost when compared to the need of acquiring the necessary number of wrought iron and steel which is in fact the main cost of the "brick" wall.

As to it's usefulnesses - the main bonus right now is the soak of 50 versus 30 for the pali, it makes taking down a brick wall a giant pain in the ass. For example the wrecking ball ads 40 base damage and ass such a brand new char with 10 str will take down a pali with ease, but you will need a minimum of 121 str to just scratch the brick wall.

The thing about catapults tho is that they deal, at the very least, 600 damage to the wall's HP but it could be more than that if I recall correctly since the damage starts at 600 but could be higher randomly.

A brickwall has only 3k HP so that's 5 shots at the most compared to the 4 shots required for a palisade.

How common is it for people to be able to use a Catapult at endgame? If you compare with W9 then. And im not sure about the mechanics of the catapult, but 1 hour drying time, for 1 shot? Or you can shot as many brimstones you have?

Thanks for putting it into perspective, it is most surely a GOOD midgame defense in that case, somewhat more neglectible at end game i guess. But a good investment for a hermit like me i suppose.
