Is it bad to have animals inside?

If i wanted to raise my sheep in the top floor of my tower, will anything bad happen? Do they need to be outside? I brought a feeding trough in for them.

i would be concerned with bugs causing them to appear inside the walls & such. Also the lack of room in buildings might cause issues with having space for breeding, or even getting up the stairs if they blocked a stairway.
