Village Statue not expanding claim

So i built a Village Statue about 3 days ago, but it does not expand the village claim.
Was thinking it would take a couple of days, but still nothing, am i missing something here?

nope.

this no longer does.
you need a banner to extend it. the statue is just for increasing the max authirity

Yes, you do: only banners increase area, statues increase maximum authority.
