Cutthroat Knuckles

OK, I was experimenting a bit at the end of the last world with the knuckles and was not even sure if they work at all. I mean - yeah, it seems from the description they are supposed to increase the damage of unarmed attacks. I was not convinced they do, though. So I gave up on them and did not even bother crafting them this world, it's the real melee weapon which is used for damage anyway.

But now looking at the screenshots in the moot section I see many (dead) people wearing them. So, I am wondering - have anybody tried to test the damage with and without knuckles? Do they really work?

P.S. Yes, I did a quick search. There are similar questions but no definitive answer.

It increase 10*sqrt(Q/10) to damage to unarmed attack.
