Efficient Beeswax Production

Postby Mah-Dry-Bread » Fri Feb 03, 2017 4:05 pm

Hey! So I've been wondering how I could make my beeswax production more efficient. It seems like I get a lot less now than I did back in Legacy H&H, so I thought I'd post here to get an update.

Currently I have one beehive covering an area with tons of diverse crops. Honey production is solid but the beeswax is very slow. It's it more efficient to have more hives, or will that slow down the wax production from all of them too much? Also does the quality of the hive affect the speed it generates wax, or just the quality of the wax?

Thanks!

- beehives can do up to 50 tiles every 8 hours (roughly?). So for fast growing crops, 1 beehive per 50 crops would be my suggestion as a minimum.
- beehives inherently have a slow wax/honey production of their own, even with no crops around to speed it up.
- beehive quality only affects product quality

You can never have too many beehives.

This is the big one here. If you have 50 tiles of carrots and 50 tiles of flax, make sure to have a hive for each of those so they're all growing at best speed. Otherwise I'll just repeat more, more, more.

There was a bug with hives creating honey and wax passively, but I don't recall specifics on how it was fixed (believe it slowly returns back to q10), but it's generally .10 L honey every day or two and 1 wax a week. You could just build a very large skep farm and collect what you need this way if quality isn't an issue.

Not sure what you mean. Honey and Wax quality is based on crop quality similar to the way animals feed, softcapped by the quality of the hive itself.

Alright, looks like I need more hives then. Thanks for the help!

Circle of carrots, lot of hives.
Farm a lot, get waxed.
