I would also like to know if there is a different application or client that helps to level the terrain, I do not have a very good view ..

You can only mine in special caves and mineholes that lead to the underground, and even then I wouldn't recommend it without a bunch of strength and rust root extract.

Also I'm just going to give you this: ringofbrodgar.com

I would suggest first checking out the beginner's guide: http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/vie ... 42&t=40714

We have a list of other useful information and guides: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=51565#p682222

And a player created and managed Wiki: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki

Mining is an activity for when you have a reliable food source. You're going to run out of energy without it. You also want to make sure you're secure as metal is a sure sign to malignant individuals to say "rob me."

If you don't want to read through the somewhat longer beginner's guide, the most basic for of protection is a Lean-to: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Leanto
Try to work towards creating a claim as quickly as possible: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Personal_Claim

Also, look for the "survey land" tool: Adventure>Landscaping>Survey Land. I think Sevenless covers it in his guide, but I think it's fairly straightforward to use. Make and use a shovel (requires the carpentry skill).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Heres a client that adds alot of usefull features called "amber client" viewtopic.php?f=49&t=40400&hilit=amber
It has an option to disable terrain elevation making everything flat, you can also change view angle with middle mouse button and u can change camera modes with "Shift + C - Change between bad and ortho cameras."

For protecting your base use a Leanto to keep some boxes of stuff safe and have the rest on you, until you can buy yeomanry skill wich cost 4000 Learning points. It enables a "stake claim" wich u place down and it claims a 5x5 area and you need to expand it by interacting with it and spending learning points on it, and before you can get it you need to learn Farming, The Will to Power, Hearth magic.
You need to discover A Beautiful Dream! x1, Bone Material x4, Block of Wood x5, Stone x4 to build a stake claim, bones u can get from squirrels or rabbits, and a dream you can get from a dreamcatcher you build.

This is a general guide you can read to help you on the way viewtopic.php?f=42&t=40714

For mining you need a tool, axe or pickaxe and then you use the "mining skill" in "adventure>mining" and use it on the cave wall, it consumed alot of stamina so u need to bring alot of water, AND mining is dangerous you can get a cave-in on your character and lose alot of health. So if you mine a tile and see dust particles falling down dont mine any tile in a 3x3 square around the dust one. You can pave the tiles that got dust particles to mark them as unsafe. There is a risk you will be mining the cave-in tile and get a cave-in on you anyway. If u manage to get some metal you can make mine supports wich stops caveins in a certain radius, with "amber client" you can enable to display this radius. You will still get caveins if you mine outside this supports radius.

I'm playing with my brother, if I make a personal claim, how can I let him continue using my things?

You select a colour in the stake claim and check the 3 boxes allowing people to do stuff on the claim, then in your kin list you put your brother on desame colour.
