Tar

Postby Immatricious » Mon Feb 06, 2017 7:10 pm

Currently it appears tar is quite difficult to aquire in large quantities; Tar kilns seem to produce very small amounts of tar(fewer than a liter). Now if I remember correctly, in World 9, I had to empty tar kilns to prevent losing some from overflow. Am I doing something wrong? I've been feeding them pine planks, perhaps blocks give more of that ooey gooey firejuice?

That will result in 10L of tar btw. You can refill your torches directly from the kiln while it's still burning, dunno if you can extract some of it with a bucket as I haven't tried.

boards is better, maybe have a low q "quantity" kiln filled with blocks and a high q "quality" kiln filled with boards?

You can get more than ten litres of tar out of a kiln of pine blocks by taking the tar out part way through burning: you can use a bucket in your hand or a barrel lifted overhead.
