I feel like i know the answer to this already but.....

I wanna redo my palisade so i want to destroy some sections of it. Since pailbashing aint a thing, is the only way to do it really a battering ram or wrecking ball?

Wrecking balls are easy to acquire. Hunt down a few rabbits, make a couple beehives, grab a bunch of taproots/nettle, gather some wood and stone, butcher a few flocks of chickens, ta-da! Wreckin' ball.
Total misplay.
