Hunting??

Postby jfw3661 » Wed Feb 08, 2017 1:20 pm

That last couple of days I have spent hours chasing down foxes after they run.. haven't caught one to kill yet.
So my understanding of hunting now is....
A. Build up my toon until he can kill it in 1 or 2 shots. (May take a while)
B. Tame a horse for the pursuit.
C. use my key alt. (I doubt it)

Any other viable ideas?

Combat Meditation. With a full bar you can strike twice instantly, which should be enough to kill a fox if you're using a sword or a spear.

Find a lake with Jorb's favorite penis-shaped shallow water areas, sit your boat it the deep water somewhere along the shaft and go to where you can hit the fox as long as you can keep your openings low, when it flees into the dead end punch/chop away until it reaggros or dies. Repeat until death

Another viable option is to lure animals to enclosed hunting area created by yourself, be it palisade, wall of boulders or just logs which will repulse fleeing animals.

Foxes spawn on sprintable terrain. Sprint after it spamming attacks.

If it takes too long and you run out of stamina, make a bronze sword and use a weapon move when it starts fleeing.

You can use wild horses for hunting as well, feed them clover and enjoy.

Also you can lure animal to sprintable terrain or into weirdly-shaped cliff. Also try to use some powerfull finisher moves. All suggestions in this thread can be applied.

Ill post here in about one hour my gf stats and gear. She killes foxes without a horse.
The problem here is not the combat system but the leak of experience in game mechanics.
If Im able to solve my fps problem ill make a video of how to hunt.
She uses ua and punches without knuckles. She wears basic leather armor, a badger vest anf nothing else.
Shes an hermit without any help.
She doesnt want to live with me in haven world xD

just lure them to yellow x spot and beat them from the direction white arrow points so when the animals flee they run to the direction arrow points and you can just build openings and hit till they reaggro, repeat till dead. Works with even less ideal shallow waters, just be careful and block the only way out if they try to flee that way.

^ from other thread which had similar questions. You only need boat for this. Any weapon helps a ton in finishing those animals off, just use punch to make openings and sting to do damage.

She's killing foxes with this xD

If she only had a bronze armor and a sword she wouldn't even get harmed.
Remember to have water with you and if the animal flees keep punching it, they doesnt even run 2 much.

If you get a horse you could even kill boars and badgers and maybe wolverines, they are quite weak.

What's UA at? I killed my first fox at like 15 UA and not even half that AGI, with equivalent gear. Took a good 15-20 in HHP damage, but only about 10 of it needed a poultice.
