Can someone explain gilding to me?

I tested out the gilding and applied taproot lacing to my nettle gear. On the gear it says that a gilding (taproot lacing) has been applied and give +2 survival, but see no difference what so ever in my abilites tab.

You have to equip the nettle gear and you cannot have bonus greater than your base value

Well this explains why I had 3+3 only. And while I'm at it, is it the same principe for realm areas with +stats?

Yes, it works for everything.

For some reason it even works if you have some malus, let's say 10 perc + 20 bonus -> 10 + 10 -5 = 15 is what you can have if you have black eye
