How do I know when quest markers show the real path?

So I have had a lot of times when I've been sent by the quest arrows in a totally different direction than where the quest giver really was. How do I know when is the arrow pointing in a right direction and when is showing me bullshit?

I don't feel like walking 15min in the worng direction at evey other quest?

Relogging would probably help a bit, to force update of the arrow.

But if you always go exactly in the direction of the arrow then it shouldn't change much.

Use :cam ortho to get precise marker all the time.

If you don't want to switch between cameras, check correct marker by moving the camera to look at your character from exactly the top of it.

Get the fuck out of HDI if you're not going to give correct information. This problem exists in official client too. Fuck off.

Either make the camera completely top-down by holding middle click and pulling up, or change to normal camera mode (with shift+C).

TBH I haven't experienced this problem in hafen yet, at least not to the extent as OP describes it. But I remember it from Salem. From what I remember the problem was that with very distant targets server couldn't give the target's coordinates (probably to stop people from getting real coordinates by partying people at known coords), so instead it gives some coordinates on the azimuth to your destination and then updates it as you get close, which may look like the pointer changes the direction, if you haven't been close to the azimuth line. As such, this problem *might* be fixed in custom clients by forcing the update of the arrows if client is allowed to do that

Thank you. It was the cam that screwed up the arrows. Both fixes written here work:

1. Switching to rtho (shift+C) (not so desirable since I I am sure no one can play this game in rtho once accustomed with :bad).

2. Raising the cam straigh up above the character fixes the arrows.

Thank you but NO. When official client > custom ones I will. For now there are far too many small improvements that make life easier with a custom client.
