I believe if you get on land you can run away from them but not in a boat.

Well I recovered the boat itself but my body was not on it. I'm fishing in that spot hoping to get lucky.

You will be better off to just make your item again than to get this lucky I think.

Yeah, moral is if you have an impending Walrus death, get on land so you can retrieve your body XD
