Thane's Ring (Fishing)

So, I managed to fish me up a Thane's Ring the other day, and I was wondering...
Is there alot of random stuff you can actually fish, or is it only fishable if someone has dropped/lost it in the area where you are fishing?

All items dropped into the water get pooled into a single database.
You fish items out from that database.

You can catch someone's "trash", ie something got dropped in the water and it goes into a global "trash" pool that can be found by fishing or washed up on the shore as beach trash. Most of it is useless, but you look to have gotten a lucky find. Congrats! FYI, this is a good way of catching dead swans and mallards.

Any time you get a "fail" state on fishing, this can happen. Either throw the trash back into the pool, or throw it onto land so nobody has to see it again.

Last world i found a q20 Druids Cloak washed up on the beach with a Heartwood Leaf on it giving +5 Farming, Cooking and Perception.

My guess is someone was ganked and thought they couldn't get away so they dumped all their gear in the water

Might have accidentally ctrl clicked equipped gear instead of shift clicking it
Can confirm as I did that to nettle pants that had a decent patch
